Remediation

The creation of an engineered building plateau across a former un-licenced landfill including surface tipped construction & industrial waste ;

Bulk excavation of approximately 35,000m3 of contaminated soil which was processed (screened & crushed) to provide re-usable 6F2 and capping soils.

Placement of a 600mm clean cover system over a visual geo-membrane break layer provided the completed houses with gardens containing soils that were un-harmful to humans.

Excavated and re-engineered materials to SHW Specification were tested for both geotechnical and chemical properties prior to incorporation into the permanent works at various depths depending upon its competency.

Processed soils were placed at depth and dynamically compacted using a polygonal compactor which facilitated increased layer thickness and reduced the duration of the works
