Landfill Clay Engineering
DXI completed two sections of engineering clay lining that was required for environmental protection within an active landfill located at Stoke. Working firstly to provide a formation surface across land that had previously been exploited for hard mineral extraction, DXI completed excavation of natural materials including rock. DXI then utilised clay materials that were provided by the Client and engineered these in a series of compacted layers to achieve a low permeability barrier.
Engineering control was completed using GPS controlled excavation and filling plant, to provide a high level of topographical control, whilst eliminating a pedestrian engineer from the workplace, and the associated risks. The works were subject to independent sampling, testing and reporting. DXI provided 3 dimensional data and interpretation that demonstrated specification compliance had been exceeded.
• The works were completed in line with the agreed programme.
• Suitable fill was generated for future site use
• The works had a low impact on existing activities
• The site was handed to the client for business continuity.
