Groundworks
The works were completed at Kendal, to develop an area of housing within a location where both sloping topography and hard limestone rock underlay the site. DXI were contracted to excavate within the rock, reducing the level by up to 4m, and to undertake detailed foundation and drainage breaking and excavation.
To accommodate the slope, several retaining measures were constructed including, in-situ reinforced concrete, infilled concrete block walling, and the assembly of pre cast retaining wall units.
Daily liaison with the client site manager, provided an update on performance, and enabled the sequence of works to be planned to minimise noise and vibration exposure to the adjacent properties.
Following excavation and concrete pouring, a combination of reinforced steel foundation strips and slabs, DXI constructed the housing plot substructures in readiness for superstructure works.
The site works also included:
• Installation of both plot and site drainage
• Supply and installation of insulated flooring systems
• Tanking and gas membrane installation
External works to plots included:
• Paving
• Both permeable and impermeable
• Soil filling
